Scientists say that with the diet change also mood changes.
Food isn't just a ''fuel'' for the body – it feeds also the mind and it can
change our mood. This connection between food and mood is still in a process of
investigation and exploration, but it is known that certain foods significantly
affect mood.
Banana
Bananas have a lot of power in improving our mood. They have
vitamins B6, A and C, fibers, tryptophan, potassium, phosphorus, iron, protein
and healthy carbohydrates. When you eat a banana, you quickly get energy from
fructose, which also prevents the increase in blood sugar and the subsequent
decline in mood. Carbohydrates help in absorption of tryptophan in the brain
which is converted into serotonin by vitamin B6, a chemical that helps in improving
mood.
Bananas contain high levels of potassium. Although potassium
isn’t directly related to mood, it is necessary for the regulation of fluids and
proper functioning of muscles which allows us to feel fresher. And finally,
bananas also contain high levels of iron which is essential for the production
of energy and fight against fatigue.
Walnuts
Walnuts contain a handful of components that contribute
to a good mood, including omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B6, tryptophan, protein
and folic acid. Higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the blood are associated
with better mood and lower rates of depression. Most experts recommend that a daily
intake of one gram of omega-3 fatty acids, and that is the amount you get if
you eat 30 grams of nuts.
Sunflower seeds
They are an excellent source of folate and
magnesium, two substances that
play a significant role in the
regulation of mood and awareness.
Magnesium, in addition to regulating
mood, plays a key
role in hundreds of other bodily
functions. Lack of this mineral
in the body is often responsible for the feeling of fatigue, nervousness and anxiety.
Folate (also known under the names of
folic acid or vitamin B9), vitamin B complex, which is closely related to the functions of the nervous system. Lack of this
vitamin in the body can lead to
irritability, depression and insomnia.
Dark chocolate
Chocolate contains a number of
substances that raise spirits, including fat, sugar,
caffeine, phenylethylamine, flavonols, theobromine,
and tryptophan. Caffeine and
theobromine are natural stimulants that are found in chocolate. With sugar
and fat, these two substances
provide rapid improvement
of mood and energy. In addition,
chocolate also contains other compounds
that raise the mood: tryptophan, tyramine and magnesium. Although they can be found in other foods, chocolate has an
advantage because of taste. However,
one shouldn’t exaggerate. Row of dark chocolate a day is enough to fix your mood.
Eggs
Maybe you would never have
thought of, but hard-boiled eggs affect mood.
Eggs are rich in protein and omega-3
fatty acids, in
addition, eggs contain high
amounts of vitamin B12 (riboflavin)
and B2, B5, and D. Also, one boiled egg contains more
than 20% of the recommended daily
dose of tryptophan . Although
carbohydrates are essential for converting tryptophan into serotonin, proteins play an important role in
the whole process. A balanced diet
that includes quality proteins,
which can be found in eggs, helps balance blood sugar and prevent emotional highs
and lows. In addition, vitamin
B12 plays an important role in energy production and helps alleviate memory problems and depression symptoms.
